Glass Table Project

By Ryan:
Several weeks ago, one of our neighbors offered to give us her old dining room table. Since we didn't have one yet, we accepted the offer. It is a very nice glass table with a green metal base.

We left it set up for a couple of weeks, but it just seemed kind of bland. We tried dressing it up with stuff on top of the table, but it just wasn't right. Then I got an idea. Almost a year and a half ago, at the auction I used to go to in PA, I'd picked up a very large box full of old stamps, letters, post cards, etc...all from the 40s, 50s and 60s. I suggested that we use all of this to decorate the bottom of the table, creating a collage of vintage stamps and letters. Shelsy loved the idea, so we set to work.

It took several days to get all the tiny pieces arranged and stuck down, but we eventually finished it. And now the table looks awesome! We're very happy with it and love the way it brings so much character into the room.

The only problem with it is that now we have a strong vested interest in the table. If we ever get a new dining room table, we can't just get rid of this one. We'll have to buy some super strong wall anchors and hang the thing as a mural. :-)

  1. Very creative! Michelle, I thought you didn't think you could do scrapbooking - kind of similar and looks great. Can't wait to see it!

  2. This looks amazing! Well done! What with the granddaughter and all, I probably won't even notice the table for a day or two after I get there, but once I take my eyes off the baby, I'm sure I'll love it! :-)
